1、 Plant introduction
1. Morphological features: Epiphyllum is a plant of cactus family. Its height is between 2-6 meters. The old stem is cylindrical and usually lignified. It has many branches, the shape is lanceolate, and the length can reach 100 cm. Its flowers are solitary, funnel-shaped, usually open at night and fragrant. Its sepals are green and white, and its petals are white.
2. Growth habit: Epiphyllum is suitable to grow at an altitude of 1000-1200 meters. I like a warm and humid semi shade environment and am not resistant to frost and exposure. It has high requirements for temperature. The temperature grows rapidly between 15-25 ℃. It can't be lower than 5 ℃ in winter. It's better to maintain it at 10-12 ℃. At the same time, the soil can't be too dry.
3. Maintenance method: Epiphyllum is generally raised with well drained soil. Because it likes half shade, it is generally cultured in places with scattered light, and sufficient light should be ensured in winter. In daily management, it is necessary to water frequently to keep the soil moist, and spray water appropriately in summer to improve the air humidity. Apply nitrogen fertilizer once a month in spring and autumn, and add bone powder or calcium superphosphate before flowering.
4. How to propagate: Epiphyllum is mainly propagated by cutting, generally from March to May. Select the strong growing stem as the cuttings, with a length of 20-30 cm. Generally, 2-3 sections are one section. Properly flatten the base and insert it into the soil after drying. After cutting, it is necessary to water properly, maintain a certain humidity, control the temperature between 18-24 ℃, and wait until the root grows to 3-4 cm.
