1. Watermelon is a fruit

Watermelon is a fruit. Strictly speaking, it is a vegetable or melon fruit.

2. Planting method of watermelon

Selection of planting land: the planting land with deep soil layer, fertile soil and good drainage performance should be selected.

Land preparation and fertilization: after selecting the planting land, the field should be trimmed first, and some organic fertilizer and base fertilizer dominated by cake fertilizer and supplemented by inorganic fertilizer should be applied. Then dig out the trunk ditch, waist ditch and enclosure ditch, which will help to improve the irrigation system of the field.

Pruning and vine pressing: three vine pruning can be adopted. However, pay attention not to prune in rainy days to prevent infectious diseases. Then wait until the vine grows to about 50 cm, and then press the vine with soil once every three or four sections, two or three times for each vine.

Topdressing: when the young melon grows to be about the size of an egg, some swelling melon fertilizer can be applied.

When the seedlings are growing, they can not be watered, even when the roots are not watered. Before flowering and fruit setting, the amount of watering should be properly controlled, and after fruit setting, the amount of watering should be appropriately increased to ensure sufficient water and conducive to fruit growth.
