1、 Why is Mimosa shy
Mimosa shrinks its leaves when stimulated by the outside world, mainly because of the "turgor effect" of its leaves. There is parenchyma tissue called "leaf pillow" at the base of Mimosa petiole, which is the most sensitive to stimulation. As long as the blade is touched and vibrated, it will immediately return to the leaf pillow at the base of the petiole to close the blade. When the stimulus disappears, its leaves will reopen and return to their original state in about 5-10 minutes.
2、 Introduction to Mimosa
It is also known as induction grass, know Mimosa, call grass, fear of ugliness grass, laugh grass, husband and wife grass and shy grass. It belongs to leguminous perennial herb or subshrub. It is named Mimosa because its leaves will close immediately when touched by external force. Its pods, flowers and leaves have good ornamental value, and are easy to survive. It is suitable for family breeding. But do not eat or over contact, otherwise it will cause hair loss.
3、 Maintenance method of Mimosa
1. Light: insufficient light or long-term exposure to shade will hinder growth and weaken resistance. Therefore, it needs to be maintained on a sunny balcony or windowsill to ensure that the time to receive light every day is 5-6 hours.
2. Soil: loose and fertile soil with good water permeability will help its vigorous growth.
3. Watering: higher requirements for water. It is best to water once a day in summer and once in 5-7 in winter.
4. Temperature: the growth temperature needs to be controlled at about 20-30 degrees. The temperature shall not be lower than 10 ℃ in winter and shall not exceed 30 ℃ in summer.
5. Fertilization: the demand for fertilizer is low. Apply thin fertilizer and water once a month to meet its growth needs.
