1、 Flowering time
The flowering time of morning glory is not fixed. It only takes 40 days from sowing to flowering, and because it is mostly sown in spring, it blooms most in summer. In addition, the flowering period of this plant is very long. If properly maintained, it can even bloom continuously for 100 days.
2、 Morphological characteristics
1. Leaves: the leaves of morning glory are generally wide ovate, usually 3-lobed, deep and shallow, and some 5-lobed, but they are very rare. The leaf length is between 4-15 cm and the width is 4.5-14 cm. The base is heart-shaped, the middle lobe is oblong, the top is sharp, and the side lobes are mostly triangular. The leaf surface is pilose, and the petiole is about 2-15 cm.
2. Flowers: the flowers of morning glory are generally solitary in the axils of leaves, and some are gathered together. Its peduncle is long and short, and generally does not exceed the petiole. Bracts are linear, with bristles on the surface after expansion. Sepals are of equal length, only about 2 cm. The Corolla is trumpet shaped, and the color is blue purple or purple red. Stamens and styles are hidden in the corolla face, with different lengths.
3. Fruit: morning glory can bear fruit. The fruit is a spherical capsule, small in size, 0.8-1.3cm in diameter, and has three petals. There are its seeds in the capsule. The seeds are triangular, relatively small, only 6mm in length, grayish brown or beige in color, and there are brown villi on the surface.
3、 Habit characteristics
Morning glory generally grows at an altitude of 100-200 meters, and is common in hillside shrubs, riverside and mountain roadsides. It has strong adaptability, likes light and is resistant to semi Yin. It is more suitable for warm or cool climate. There is no problem with high temperature for a short time, but freezing will affect growth.
