1、 Is it Datura
The other shore flower is not a datura flower. They are very different, not even a plant. The former is one of the varieties of Lycoris in Lycoris family, and its scientific name is Lycoris safflower. The latter is a flower of Datura in Solanaceae, with many aliases, such as honeysuckle, trumpet, sunset, etc. In addition, there is a kind of white other shore flower, also known as datura flower, which is different from the latter.
2、 The difference between the two
1. Morphological features: the other shore flowers have bulbs and clustered leaves, mostly fleshy. Its flowers are umbels, usually 5-7, red in color, with curled petals. Generally, leaves will grow only after the flowers fade. Datura stramonium has stout and upright flower stems, with a height of 50-150 cm. Its leaves are wide ovate, and its flowers are solitary. It has rich colors, including white, red, purple and so on.
2. Growth habit: the other shore flower has strong cold resistance. It must like semi shade environment, but it is also resistant to exposure. The plant has certain drought tolerance, but prefers humidity. It can grow in all kinds of soil and often dormant in summer. Datura grows in the place with sufficient light. It has strong drought resistance and is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, the soil must have certain drainage.
3. Allegorical symbol: in legend, the other shore flower is the flower of the yellow spring, representing endless love, the omen of death and the call of hell. Although the allegorical meaning is not pleasant, it is still deeply loved by people with its unique shape. Different colors of Datura flower have different meanings. For example, pink represents suitability, black represents death, white represents anesthesia, green represents hope and gold represents happiness.
