1、 Breeding method
1. Light: Poinsettia needs sufficient light for its growth. It has strong phototropism and needs to be exposed to the sun all year round. If the light is insufficient, the plant is easy to grow in vain, and it will affect flowering. As a short sunshine plant, the flowering period can be advanced or delayed by controlling the light time. If the light is guaranteed for 8 hours a day, it will bloom in 40 days p>
2. Temperature: Poinsettia likes warm climate and has poor cold resistance. Be sure to keep warm in winter and keep the room temperature between 15-20 ℃. If it is lower than 15 ℃, it will affect the discoloration of bracts and is not conducive to flower bud differentiation. The upper part of the plant can be covered with plastic bags to keep warm, but it should be removed regularly for ventilation p>
3. Soil: poinsettia is suitable for growing in loose and fertile soil. Good drainage can avoid root flooding and reduce the possibility of rotten roots. If basin soil needs to be prepared, garden soil, humus soil, rotten leaf soil and cake fertilizer can be mixed to form the matrix in the proportion of 3:3:3:1, and a small amount of slag should be added at the same time p>
4. Watering: poinsettia is not drought resistant and is afraid of moisture, so watering should be carried out according to climate and growth conditions. The soil should be kept moist during the growth period, but there should be no ponding. Watering should be reduced during the flowering period. Flowers are easy to fall when there is more water. Watering should be uniform, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and fall off, and the branches will grow unevenly p>
5. Fertilization: Poinsettia needs base fertilizer when it is put into the basin. Generally, organic fertilizer or horseshoe pieces are used. During the growth period, try liquid fertilizer every 10-15 days. You can dilute the rotten sesame paste residue five times before using it. Apply compound fertilizer once a week to promote bud differentiation in autumn p>
6. Pruning: three weeks after poinsettia is planted, its heart should be picked, which can promote the growth of lateral branches. In the dormancy period, trim the sick branches and weak branches. If you change the pot, you can also prune the roots appropriately. It needs to be trimmed in autumn to make the plant smaller and improve its ornamental value p>
