1、 Morphological characteristics

Ribbon grass is 13-30 cm tall, with fleshy roots, finger like, clustered at the base of the stem. The stem is short, and the leaves are wide linear or wide lanceolate. Flower stems erect, 10-25 cm long. The raceme has many dense flowers, which are twisted in a spiral shape. Flower bracts ovate lanceolate. The flowers are small, purplish red, pink or white. It usually blooms between July and August in summer

2、 Habitat of origin

Ribbon grass grows under hillside forests, shrubs, grasslands or marsh meadows at an altitude of 10-3400 meters. It is widely distributed in all provinces and regions of China. In addition, it is also distributed in Vietnam, Thailand, India, Afghanistan, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia. It likes a humid and warm environment and has a certain shade tolerance, but it needs more sun and scattered light during cultivation. It cannot be placed in a dark environment for a long time, otherwise it will affect its growth

3、 Breeding mode

Ribbon grass is mostly propagated by dividing plants, which can be carried out all year round, but it is best to carry out it in the later stage of flowering. Select the strong side buds, pinch the stem and gently pull them out, and then plant them separately. Soft and breathable soil shall be used for cultivation, and peat soil, perlite and vermiculite can be used for mixing and soil preparation. It can also be propagated by sowing. After the fruit is mature, the seeds are collected, and then the seeds are evenly scattered on the substrate. The true leaves will grow in about 3 months. However, the survival rate of seeding reproduction is low
