1、 Planting time
Yam is generally planted in spring, mostly in the middle and late March. At this time, the temperature is gradually rising, which is conducive to the growth of seedlings. There is also a small amount of rainfall, which can provide a warm and humid environment. The higher temperature in summer is not conducive to its growth, and it is easy to frostbite seedlings in winter p>
2、 How to plant
1. Selecting reed head: the germination rate of yam seeds is very low. It is generally planted with reed head, which is the section with buds at the upper end of the root. In order to improve the survival rate, the reed head should be selected. If the bud head is relatively full and there are no diseases and pests, the intercepted length is about 20 cm p>
2. Storage: reed heads are usually selected in October, but they have to be planted in spring, so they should be stored first. Put the reed head in the sun for two days. When the wound heals, you can dig a hole and bury it. To ensure that winter will not be frozen, otherwise it will affect the survival p>
3. Planting: after spring, dig out the stored reed heads and select the deep, loose and fertile soil. Bury the reed head in the soil, then turn it deeply and pour enough water. In order to keep it moist, it can be covered with plastic film, which can accelerate the emergence of seedlings p>
