1、 How to cut

1. Cutting time: Banyan cutting does not require high time, but it must be carried out when the temperature is appropriate. Usually, the temperature should be 25-30 ℃, so that the cuttings are easier to take root. If the temperature is too high, the bottom of the cuttings is easy to rot, making it unable to survive. If the temperature is too low, it is not easy to take root and may be frostbitten

2. Cuttings treatment: in order to make banyan cuttings grow better, we must choose healthy plants without diseases and insect pests, cut robust semi lignified branches from above, and cut them into several sections, each section with 3-4 stem nodes. A leaf should be reserved on the top, the excess should be cut off, and the bottom should be stained with plant ash to prevent sap from flowing out and prevent wound decay

3. Basin soil preparation: the substrate for banyan cutting, usually river sand or perlite. Good drainage and air permeability are very helpful for rooting, and the soil cannot contain fertilizer, otherwise it will damage the newly grown roots. In order to ensure the healthy growth of plants, the basin soil needs to be disinfected. It can be spread in the sunny place for a period of time to eliminate potential bacteria and insect eggs through high temperature

4. Cutting maintenance: after putting the sterilized soil into the basin, use bamboo chopsticks to make a hole on it, and insert the branches of banyan from above, usually about half of the depth. After insertion, it should be properly watered and placed in a semi shade environment to avoid direct light. It can also be covered with a film to achieve the effect of heat preservation and moisture retention

2、 What if you don't sprout
