Pruning before flowering
Generally, the branches and buds are pruned and the way of picking the heart is adopted before the big rock Tung blooms p>
Picking the heart is to remove the top flower branches, so as to promote the growth of more lateral branches, so as to produce more flowers p>
It is better to pick the heart early rather than late. Picking the heart early is conducive to forming and flowering as soon as possible. After picking the heart, select 2-3 new buds with similar height and appropriate position to ensure the smooth opening of the flowers p>
Pruning at flowering
If the leaves around the flower hinder the normal growth of the flower after the big rock Tung blooms, part of the leaves can be cut off or half of the leaves can be cut off according to the actual situation and needs p>
In this way, pruning the leaves can make all the flowers bloom on the top of the plant to form a cluster of flowers, which will have a better ornamental effect p>
The pruned big rock Tung can produce up to 18 flowers at a time. Among them, a big rock Tung cultivated in a 12 cm flowerpot has a plant height of no more than 15 cm and only two branches, that is, 16 flowers bloom at the same time. It is very beautiful p>
Pruning after flowering
After flowering, if soil and fertilizer are cultivated and properly managed, it will draw out the second batch of buds p>
After flowering, if you don't need to keep seeds, you'd better cut off the flower stems to control the loss of nutrients, which is conducive to continued flowering and tuber growth and development p>
After flowering and entering the winter, the tubers of the big rock Tung should be retained, and a leafless stem with a length of about 3-4 cm should be selected. Sand storage should be carried out in time to keep the temperature not lower than 5 ℃ p>
During the winter, the sandy soil should not be too wet, otherwise the bulbs will rot. if the sandy soil is too dry, spray an appropriate amount of water to prevent the stem from drying. When the flowers bloom in spring, the tubers of big rock Tung sprout, and select and leave new buds as needed to enter a new round of maintenance and pruning p>
