Time selection
When we choose the method of plant division to propagate peonies, we usually choose the period from the autumn equinox to frost every year. Because the peony is in a semi dormant state at this time, its growth is relatively slow, but it still has a long period of time to continue vegetative growth, which can reduce the impact of split cultivation on root growth, and some roots or buds can grow after splitting p>
If the ramet time is too late and the plant grows slowly, it is difficult to regenerate and grow roots. In this way, the growth ability of the ramet plant will be very weak, and it is not resistant to drought and difficult to survive p>
Ramet method
We must first choose a strong peony plant that has grown for more than three years as the mother plant, then dig out the peony roots, remove the soil from the roots, and dry it for about one or two days, so that the damage to the roots can be reduced to a certain extent when dividing the plants p>
When dividing, it should be cut according to the texture of the root of the peony. If the root of the peony is very large, it can be divided into more small parts, but if it is small, it can be divided less. The separated part should have a very complete root system and retain the tiller buds at the neck. Then mix the sulfur and soil and apply it on the wound of the ramet, so that the good part of the ramet can be planted in the soil. During cultivation, pay attention to keep the root of the peony upright. After planting, keep the soil firm and pour more water for several times to fully integrate the soil and the root. In the first year of overwintering, keep warm p>
