Peony cutting method

Cutting is a kind of asexual propagation. Generally, cutting peony is best carried out in the first ten days of October. When we use the cutting method to propagate peony, we should first select a healthy and lush peony plant, cut off a branch, and then cultivate the branch into the sandy soil. The part buried in the soil should be slightly less than half of the whole plant. After planting, we should water it immediately, then cover it with a layer of film, and do a good job of shading. Water should be sprayed every eight days. When winter comes, the water spraying will be stopped, and there is no need to carry out shade work. Transplantation can be carried out only in the autumn of the next year

Precautions for cutting

We should choose the native shoots that grow in that year for cutting. The root of peony belongs to the fleshy root, which is more suitable for growing in a relatively dry environment and cannot be watered excessively. The fleshy root of peony will rot in an excessively humid environment. Therefore, we should choose loose sandy soil with good drainage, and plant the branches in an environment with good sunshine and ventilation conditions. After the cuttings are planted in the soil, they must be watered immediately and thoroughly, which is conducive to the rooting of the branches
