Cutting propagation
Selection of inserts
For cuttings, it is appropriate to choose the branches that grow healthily and have no diseases and insect pests, and the middle and upper sunny branches that grow in the same year on the same plant. The branches with short internodes, full bud tips and thick branches and leaves are preferred p>
Matrix selection
Generally, peat soil and rotten leaf soil can be mixed and prepared in the proportion of 3 ∶ 3 ∶ 4 respectively, which is conducive to the rooting and germination of branches p>
Processing inserts
Before cutting, it is best to treat the cuttings with ABT rooting powder and other agents in advance to promote their rooting. Cut the cuttings into a section of about 8-12 cm and keep 2-3 buds. The incision at the lower part of the cuttings is generally 0.5 cm below the node. The incision should be smooth. Cut off the lower leaves and leave only 2-3 leaves at the top. The insertion depth is generally about 3 cm p>
Conditions for root creation
The suitable rooting temperature of evening primrose is between 20-24 ℃, and the soil temperature is generally 3-5 ℃ higher than the temperature, which is more conducive to rooting. The relative humidity of the air in the slotted bed is 80% - 90%, and the illumination is required to be about 30%. The water content should be appropriate. The water content is slightly larger in the early stage of cutting and slightly dry in the later stage p>
Strengthen post insertion management
After cutting, it shall be watered and covered with plastic film, and placed in a shady place to avoid direct sunlight. At night, it is necessary to increase light to help its cutting survive. Let out air 1-2 times a day to supplement oxygen and prevent diseases. Water should be sprayed frequently to keep the cutting bed moderately wet, but if too much water is sprayed, it will affect the healing and rooting of cuttings. When the new root grows to 2-3cm, it can be transplanted into the basin p>
