Preparation of wintersweet grafting:
Grafting time
The cutting is generally carried out in spring. The weather is warm in spring, but remember to start the cutting activity when the branches and buds have not sprouted (at the latest when the buds germinate to the size of rice grains). If the cutting time is late, the probability of plant survival will be greatly reduced p>
Preliminary work:
Weeds shall be cleaned before cutting and jointing, and no fertilizer shall be applied about one month before cutting and jointing p>
Selection of rootstock and scion:
The best choice of rootstock is strong seedlings of more than two years p>
Scion should choose branches that grow well for more than one year. The scion should be pinched off before cutting to ensure the concentration of nutrients in the middle of the branch. When cutting scions, it is best to slightly expose the xylem to prevent the loss of water p>
Grafting method of wintersweet:
It is best to control the cutting edge of rootstock at about 6-8 cm away from the ground and the scion cutting at slightly exposed xylem to prevent water loss. Insert the scion into the Rootstock to ensure that the cambium of the two is aligned on at least one side p>
Use plastic film to quickly bind the joint of the two, and do not expose it to the outside, so as to prevent the loss of nutrients p>
After grafting, pay attention to the sufficient water of the plant and water it in time p>
Curing of wintersweet after grafting:
1. Remember to remove the sprouting of Rootstock in time within one month after successful grafting
2. Weeds in potted plants must be removed in time
3. Picking and pruning are also essential work
4. Remember to remove the plastic film after autumn and transplant after winter
