1、 Different varieties

Although both flat bamboo root and iris belong to Iridaceae and iris, they are different in essence. They are not the same plant. If you observe carefully, you can distinguish them. It has many nicknames, such as iron shoulder pole, Douchi leaf root, butterfly flower, etc

2、 Different flowers

The flowers of flat bamboo roots are arranged into racemose cymes. The flowers are mostly lavender or white, relatively light in color, and there will be yellow spots on the petals. The diameter of the flowers is about 5cm, and the single petals are obovate or oval, about 2.5-3cm long

Iris flowers are dark and purple, and the color on the petals is relatively pure. There are no yellow spots on them, with a diameter of about 10cm

3、 Different fruits

The flat bamboo root will produce an oval capsule with a length of about 2.5-3cm and a diameter of about 1.2-1.5cm

The fruit of iris is long oval or obovate in shape, with a length of about 4.5 ~ 6cm and a diameter of about 2 ~ 2.5cm
