Breeding method of red back cinnamon
temperature
Osmanthus fragrans is a subtropical plant, which is not cold resistant. The suitable temperature for growth is between 15-25 ℃, and the overwintering temperature should not be lower than 5 ℃.
illumination
It is semi shade resistant and likes scattered light. It should not be exposed to strong light. It needs to be placed in a shady and ventilated place in summer, which is conducive to maintaining the color of red backed cinnamon leaves.
watering
Red backed osmanthus likes a humid growth environment, but avoid waterlogging. Fully water during the growth period to keep the basin soil and the surrounding environment moist, but pay attention to avoid ponding. Watering shall be controlled in winter. Generally, watering shall be carried out every 7-10 days, and the basin soil shall be slightly wet and dry.
apply fertilizer
When planting or turning pots and changing soil, an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer can be applied as the base fertilizer. The compound fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium can be applied once in about half a month during the growth period, and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be sprayed twice during the flowering period. Fertilization is not required in midsummer and winter.
soil
I like fertile, loose and well drained sandy loam.
Breeding method
Two propagation methods can be adopted: root splitting and cutting. The root splitting method is generally carried out in March and April of each year, and 2-3-year-old seedlings are selected for split planting. The most common is cutting propagation. The annual strong branches are selected as cuttings, cut into sections every three sections, inserted into plain soil, about 23cm deep, shaded and moisturized for about two months to take root.
Precautions for red osmanthus
In terms of pest control, anthrax, leaf blight and root knot nematode are common. The first two diseases can be treated by spraying 500 times of 65% mancozeb wettable powder, and 3% carbofuran granules can be used for the prevention and control of insect diseases. Osmanthus fragrans is easy to be harmed by scale insects. Pay attention to prevention and control.
The cultivation soil must be selected with acid soil, and the basin is generally changed every two years according to the growth situation. In the hot season, it is advisable to maintain under the shade, and apply acid liquid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks, which can make the branches and leaves flourish and keep the leaf color bright.
The room temperature should not be lower than 12 ℃ in winter, otherwise it will cause a large number of fallen leaves and the plant will enter dormancy, and the twigs will wither. If this happens, it should be re cut immediately to promote the development of new branches. When moving out of the room in spring, pay attention to prevent the wind from blowing, otherwise it is easy to cause the blade to shrink or even the blade edge to dry up.
