Varieties of elderberry

There are 20 varieties of elderberry, all of which are produced in the subtropical zone and most of the temperate zone in the northern hemisphere. There are about five varieties introduced from China. The main varieties of elderberry are Canadian elderberry, Luying and Western elderberry. In recent years, some elderberries have been introduced from abroad, including "golden leaf" elderberry, "golden feather" elderberry, "Ziyun" elderberry and "flower leaf" elderberry

Canadian elderberry

This variety grows in the east of North America. It is the female parent of "golden leaf" elderberry. Its leaves are golden yellow

Lu Ying

This variety, also known as elderberry, grows in the Yangtze River Basin and the eastern part of Northwest China. It likes humidity. It is common in humid areas

Western elderberry

The variety is native to the Mediterranean coast, southern Europe, North Africa and even West Asia. This variety is the female parent of "Ziyun" elderberry and "flower leaf" elderberry. The leaves of "Ziyun" elderberry are smooth on both sides, the new leaves appear yellow green, turn dark purple in the later stage, and the berries are purplish black. "Flower leaf" elderberry leaves have silvery white edges and silvery white patterns inside, like flowers blooming, and the berries are dark purple< span>
