Ruth loved flowers and plants since she was a child, but it was in the 1950s that she became associated with meat. At that time, she bought the first pot of meat in her life. From then on, she became infatuated with meat and got out of control

At first, the meat was put in the greenhouse and toilet around the house. Later, the more meat you buy, the more meat you can't put at home. In 1971, her husband gave her three acres of the family's land to grow meat

Looking at the open land, Ruth, nearly 70, had the idea of building a fleshy desert garden. She wants to try to create a green miracle on this barren land

From early morning to sunset, she spent nearly 10 hours a day planning, designing, planting and watering the yard, almost all by herself

But things were not always smooth sailing. Ruth's garden encountered the greatest difficulty in the second year of construction. The winter of that year was extremely cold, and almost all the delicate meat in the garden was frozen to death

But she didn't give up, but started again in the spring. In order to prevent the meat from freezing to death again, she asked someone to customize the anti freezing wooden box, and later built a special flower house

Because she didn't know all the meat habits, she had to read many books before planting a new variety. After planting, she will take notes every day to record the growth of succulents

Ruth studied architecture in college. In the process of building a fleshy garden, her knowledge also played a big role

In order to break the flat landscape in the yard and make the garden more layered, she added some undulating mounds in the garden

Simply planting succulent plants made the garden monotonous. She built a central pond in the garden

But unexpectedly, the pond later became a habitat for birds

She also has her own ideas about meat planting and matching. Some fleshy plants with bright colors and small size are laid on both sides of the gravel path, and the larger fleshy plants are scattered on the higher slopes

Later, Ruth garden attracted the attention of relevant organizations in the United States. Because its idea of desert garden is of great reference significance, Ruth garden became the first private garden protected by garden organizations in the United States in 1989

In 2011, it was rated as "the most meaningful private garden on the west coast of the United States" by Pacific gardening magazine
