Pruning method
True cypress is the most suitable material for making bonsai. It is always green, with dense branches and small leaves. It is suitable for viewing all year round p>
In fact, the true cypress does not need to be pruned repeatedly, and it is not resistant to pruning. When you want to prune it, you can remove the top part of it, which can make the side branches grow better p>
When new branches and leaves are born in spring, they should be pruned in time. Do not allow the branches and leaves to grow freely and destroy their compact tree shape. The pruning is mainly short p>
Precautions
1. When pruning the new branches, try not to cut them with scissors, but directly pinch them by hand, which can prevent the wounds cut with scissors from turning brown and greatly reduce their viewing degree p>
2. If you want to prune the larger branches, you should choose to prune them when they enter the dormant state p>
In Taiwan and Japan, many plant modeling masters like to have some dry branches on their bonsai modeling. They call these dry branches "relic stems", which is also a very popular practice in Taiwan and Japan. They are "relic stems" created according to the local drying and breaking of trees in nature for some reason. The bonsai with "relic stems" has a unique ornamental effect p>
