1、 Variety selection

There are many varieties of papaya, and the varieties suitable for planting in different geographical conditions are also different. For example, in the central region of China, it is more suitable to plant hairy leaf papaya. This is a small tree with no thorns, pink flowers and oval fruits. Tibetan papaya is suitable for planting in the high mountains of Tibet and Western Sichuan. It has many thorns and full leaves. There is also a wrinkled skin papaya suitable for planting in the north, which has good cold resistance

2、 Seed collection and sowing

When papaya is ripe, it can be harvested, then planed, the seeds are taken out from the inside and dried, and the fuller ones are selected for retention. Half before sowing, soak it in soda solution for 6-8 hours, then take it out and drain it, mix it with a little sand, sow it into the soil, and cover it with a thin layer of soil. After sowing, water should be poured, and a layer of straw should be covered on the surface to maintain a certain temperature and humidity. Generally, seedlings can emerge in about 40-50 days

3、 Seedling raising method

After the emergence of papaya seedlings, we should first cultivate soil and moisturize it. When it grows to 2-3 leaves, we should reduce watering to prevent the plant from growing in vain. Start fertilizing when there are four leaves, and five leaves are about to grow seedlings. During the seedling raising period, attention should be paid to soil loosening and grass pulling, as well as proper watering and fertilization. According to the planting time, the seedling period is also different. The seedling period of spring sowing is about 50-70 days, while that of winter sowing is about 120-130 days

4、 Daily management

It should be fertilized in time in daily maintenance. Generally, topdressing should be applied in early flowering, late flowering and fruit expansion period, and base fertilizer should be added in autumn. Most of the fertilization in the early flowering stage is in January, the late flowering stage is in early April, and the fruit expansion stage is in May. At this time, it is applied in Hefei, and the content of phosphorus and potassium is relatively high. When applying base fertilizer in autumn, select animal manure mixed with compound fertilizer, and pour it into it after loosening the soil, not close to the trunk
