How to Transfer a House Plant to a Bigger Pot

House plants are a great way to add some life and color to any room. However, as they grow, they will need a bigger pot to continue thriving. Here are the steps to transfer your house plant to a bigger pot:

Step 1: Choose the Right Pot

The new pot should be 2-3 inches larger than the current pot. Make sure the new pot has a drainage hole as it is important for the plant to have drainage to avoid any root rot or mold issues. Also, make sure the pot is the right material; for example, terracotta pots allow the soil to dry out faster, while plastic pots hold moisture longer.

Step 2: Prepare the Soil

Prepare the new pot with fresh soil. You can use a pre-mixed potting soil or create your own mixture of soil, perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss. Fill the new pot about one-third full with the soil mixture.

Step 3: Remove the Old Pot

Gently remove the plant from the old pot by gently pulling on the stem or tapping the pot upside down to encourage the plant to come out. If the plant is stuck, use scissors or a knife to cut the pot to remove the plant. Be careful not to damage any of the roots.
