Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is situated in Ukraine, in the city of Enerhodar which is located on the south bank of the Dnieper River. It is the largest power plant in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe.

The History of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

The construction of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant began in the 1970s, during the Soviet era. The first power unit of the plant was put into operation in 1984, followed by the second unit in 1985, the third unit in 1987, the fourth unit in 1989, the fifth in 1995 and the sixth and last unit in 1996. It took more than ten years to complete the construction of the entire power plant, and it has been operating successfully ever since.

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant plays a significant role in Ukraine's energy production. It provides approximately 45% of the country's nuclear energy and around 20% of its electricity.
