Pre sowing treatment

Before sowing, the soil and seeds shall be strictly disinfected to prevent diseases and pests during the growth period. The seeds can be sown from the first ten days of April to the last ten days of June. The seeds can be disinfected by soaking the seeds with 1% potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes. The matrix is prepared by mixing 2 parts of rotten leaf soil, 1 part of river sand, 2 parts of peat and 2 parts of perlite. It can be disinfected with 0.05% potassium permanganate or 1000 times of formaldehyde. The soil can be fumigated by high temperature to kill the bacteria, pests and grass seeds

Before sowing, the substrate is wet and then sown on demand. Zinnia is a photophobic flower. After sowing, it must be covered with a layer of vermiculite

Sowing method

The seed life of Zinnia is 3 years and the germination rate is about 60%. Try to choose the full seeds of the previous year to improve the seed germination rate. The sowing date can be determined according to the flowering time. It takes about 75-90 days from sowing to flowering. Seeds can be sown on demand or withdrawn. They need to be covered with about 1 cm of thin soil, watered after sowing, germinated 5-10 days after sowing, and transplanted once when the seedlings grow two leaves and are 5-8 cm high

It takes 45-60 days from planting to flowering due to different varieties, and the suitable temperature for growth is 15-30 ℃. Except that the seedlings need to be sheltered from light and rain, they all need plenty of sunshine. 3 parts of humus soil, 1 part of sawdust and 1 part of river sand can be used to stir evenly

At the temperature of 21-23 ℃, it can germinate in 3-5 days. There is no need for light during the germination period. After germination, the seedling bed shall maintain 50% - 60% water content and shall not be too wet to avoid root rot or sudden collapse

Cutting

Cutting seedling is not as neat as sowing seedling. You can choose lateral buds with a length of 10 cm for cutting, generally 5-7 natural roots. Later, the cultivation management is the same as sowing, and you can leave the nursery after 30-45 days

Cutting can be combined with coring and dwarfing
