Time
Echinacea can be sown in spring, summer and autumn p>
Matrix
Select the soil with good drainage and air permeability, and apply enough base fertilizer in the soil. Generally, 1500-2000 kg of rotten chicken manure, cow manure and cage fertilizer are applied per mu p>
Seed treatment
Before sowing, the seeds shall be soaked, germinated and disinfected p>
Put the seeds into the basin, add warm water at 35 ℃ - 40 ℃, gently stir to immerse all seeds in water, and after 2-3 hours, put the seeds into 800-1000 times potassium permanganate solution for disinfection for about 15 minutes p>
Next, take out the seeds, put them evenly on the newspaper, and then place them in a sunny and ventilated place to dry for 1-2 hours p>
Seeding steps
The sowing method of Echinacea is generally sowing p>
When sowing, first put some fine soil in the basin, then mix the seeds with the fine soil by hand, then sprinkle the seeds evenly in the substrate, and then cover a layer of substrate and pour it with water p>
When watering, use a small amount of water to flood, so as not to alluvial the seeds together and produce uneven seedling emergence p>
Generally, the seedlings break through the soil in about 8 days and come out in about 15 days p>
Management after sowing
Echinacea seedlings require less water in the early stage. Generally, they don't need watering. Just keep the soil moist. When the seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves, start watering, usually once every 15-20 days. In case of overcast and rainy days, pay attention to timely drainage p>
With the growth of Echinacea seedlings, weeds will gradually emerge. In order to prevent weeds from competing with seedlings for water and nutrients, weeds should be removed in time, preferably by hand p>
If it is autumn sowing, pour antifreeze water before winter, and cover the seedlings with plastic cloth for thermal insulation within 2-3 days after watering. When the temperature rises in spring, the covering can be removed in early April p>
