The sowing time of cuiju will be determined according to different varieties. The sowing time of asteroid series is generally from November to April of the next year, and the flowering will be from April to August

It can also be sown in batches as needed to control the flowering period

Dwarf species are sown in the greenhouse from February to March or in the sunny border in March, and can bloom from May to June; Sowing in the open from April to May and flowering from July to August; Sowing in the first ten days of July can blossom in the "National Day"; Sowing in the first and middle of August, the seedlings overwinter in the cold bed and bloom on May day the next year

Medium-sized varieties sow from May to June and bloom from August to September; Sowing in August requires cold bed wintering and flowering from May to June of the next year

High type varieties can be sown in spring and summer and bloom in autumn, but it is better to sow in early summer

Seeding steps

Because the seeds of cuiju are relatively large, you can choose to sow on demand

Keep the temperature at 18 ℃ - 21 ℃, and select fertile, moist and well drained sandy loam as the matrix

Seedlings can emerge about 7-21 days after sowing, and the seedling growth speed is relatively fast, so it is necessary to plant seedlings in time

Curing after sowing

After one transplanting, the seedlings will be planted when they are 10 cm high. Due to drought in summer, the amount of watering needs to be increased

The fully decomposed high-quality organic fertilizer can be used as the base fertilizer, and the chemical fertilizer can be used as the top dressing. The fertilizer can be applied once every ten days during the growth period, or the "Huiyou" 20-20-20 general fertilizer can be used. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be applied once 45 ~ 80 days after potting

Cuiju generally does not need to pick the heart, but in order to make the flowers on the main branch more prominent, some side branches can be thinly cut, and 5-7 flower branches can be reserved for each plant

The cuiju for autumn sowing and cutting flowers must be illuminated for 1-2 hours in the middle of the night to promote the elongation and flowering of flower stems
