Short cut

Short cutting is light cutting, which is mainly to trim the plants that do not need to be planted, drain the dense branches in the inner chamber, increase the ventilation and light transmittance, and accelerate the germination of new branches and the formation of flower buds. The inflorescences of cloves grow on the top of branches and differentiate into flower buds from terminal buds. Therefore, after entering the flowering period (except cutting flowers), they should not be cut short, but should be pruned after the flower withers. When the inflorescence begins to wither in late spring and early summer every year, if there is no seed left, the residual flowers and the two buds at the lower part of the flower spike can be cut off to reduce nutrient consumption. Plants that do not cut off the remaining flowers will greatly reduce the number of flowers in the second year, or even fail to bloom

The ornamental effect of clove is excellent. It is an important cut flower for indoor bottle watering. When cutting flower branches, they must be close to the side branches below. They cannot be broken by hand, and less stumps should be left. A large clump of mature cloves can provide a large number of cut flowers every spring, but the number of cut flowers on the young cloves that bloom for the first time should not be too large, otherwise it will affect the growth of young trees

Daily pruning of cloves

In daily pruning, the root tillers whose roots are not used as ramets should be cut off in time, especially the grafted seedlings cultivated with white wax tree, privet and clove as rootstocks, because a large number of root tillers will occur from the rootstocks every year. If they are not cut off in time, the clove bushes will often be replaced by rootstocks

Clove has strong vitality, and the old seedlings can be rejuvenated by primary or secondary regeneration

A renewal is to cut off all the branches on the ground of the clove tree to make it grow new branches, and a new plant can be formed soon. One update may affect the appearance, so the method of second update can be adopted, which can be trimmed one by one in two years. In the first year, cut off 1 / 2 of the old branches and keep the other half to maintain the original tree shape. In the second year, cut off the other half of the old branches.
