Propagation method of plantain

The propagation methods of plantain can be divided into cutting propagation, layering propagation and sowing propagation

Cutting propagation

The branching ability of plantain is relatively poor, so it is necessary to cultivate cutting mother plants. From June to October, cut the top branches of plantain, about 8 ~ 10cm long, with 5 ~ 6 leaves. After cutting them short, insert them into the sand bed and keep them moist. The appropriate temperature range is 24 ~ 27 ℃, not lower than 20 ℃. About 30 ~ 40 days after sowing, the roots will sprout and potted when the new branches grow to 4 ~ 5cm. Cuttings need to be treated with 0.2% indole butyric acid for 2 seconds, which can improve the rooting rate and shorten the rooting days

Strip propagation

From May to June, the method of high-altitude strip pressing is usually used for breeding. Select the strong main stem, peel it in a ring 20 cm away from the top, 1 cm wide, cover it with wet moss, and then wrap it with plastic film. The indoor temperature needs to be kept above 20 ℃, root in about 40 days, and cut the potted plant after 60 days

Sowing and propagation
