Cutting operation steps
1
On the crab claw orchid, choose about 3-7 segments of strong growth, and cut them off with clean and sharp scissors p>
2
Put the cut branches on a paper tray or paper towel and wait for the cut wound to dry and heal. The standing time is from 1 day to 2 weeks, depending on the size of the cutting surface. When the cut wound heals, you can cut it p>
Crab claw orchid can store water in its own branches, so we will not harm it by standing and drying for a short time. Of course, we can't put it for too long, it will wither p>
3
Put the pearl stone into the basin and wet it. There must be a drainage hole at the bottom of the basin so that the crab claw will not rot due to the accumulated water in the basin. You can also use half peat soil and half sand p>
4
Insert the spare branches into the soil, about 2-3cm deep. Water properly to stabilize the soil around the branches and fix the plants p>
Then cover the basin with a transparent plastic bag, and bind the bag mouth with rubber band or string to seal it p>
5
Place the container in a place with bright indirect light. Check 2-3 times a week. If the soil is dry, add a small amount of water p>
If water vapor condenses in the plastic bag, open the bag for 1-2 hours for ventilation. In this way, the branches will take root in about 6-8 weeks p>
6
After about 6-8 weeks, carefully dig the crab claw from the soil with a small spoon. If you see that the root is already 2-3cm long. It can be transplanted into a large basin with potted soil p>
If the root is still very short, you can plant it back in the old pot and transplant it when the root is long p>
7
The transplanted crab claw orchid should be placed in a place with bright indirect light. Do not put it near the door, near the window, air conditioner, heating pipe or stove p>
Before watering, insert your fingers into the soil and feel it. If the soil with a knuckle deep on the surface feels dry, you can water it p>
The water must be poured thoroughly at one time until the water flows out of the drainage hole at the bottom. After watering, you can stand still until the drainage hole at the bottom of the basin is no longer leaking, and then put it back on the water receiving tray p>
8
In the growing season, water-soluble flower fertilizer is added to the crab claw every month p>
