Pre flowering pruning

The purpose of pre flower pruning is to make the flower buds born on strong segments. In the middle and late September, the single extended stem nodes of the current year can be shortened, and the deformed, twisted, thin and young nodes can be removed at the same time to promote the flower bud differentiation at the top of the nodes. The buds begin to appear in early October, and the flower buds are milky white to light red papillary. At this time, the newly grown flat tender stems should be removed in time to promote the birth of flower buds. Flower buds should be sparse after birth according to the nutritional situation. Generally, one flower bud should be reserved for one segment. If more than two flower buds are born at the stem end successively, the large ones should be kept and the small ones should be removed, so as to concentrate nutrients and avoid falling buds and flowers. If the plant grows vigorously but has few flower buds, the buds may not be sparse, but the young stem nodes need to be removed

Post flower pruning

The purpose of post flower pruning is to trim the plant type and promote the growth of branches. There is a dormancy period in mid March, which can be trimmed and reshaped in combination with changing pots and soil. Usually pruned in layers, the lowest stem node can be slightly longer, followed by the middle, and the upper part can be cut short. If it has not been trimmed for many years and the single node stem piece extends for a long time, it shall be cut short. After cutting short, more than two nodes can be produced, and the plant type is fuller. If the knots are too dense and the growth is too vigorous, they should be thinly cut. Combined with plastic surgery, some large branches in the inner layer should be cut off for ventilation and light transmission, which can reduce the burden of rootstocks, delay plant aging, and reduce flower and bud falling at the same time

Operation method

It is not allowed to cut the segment from the middle, but from the base. At the same time, it is necessary to retain a 1 ~ 2mm long pedicle to prevent damage to the growth point. The stem stem will shrink and fall off soon after cutting, and there will be no pruning trace after the new stem node is sent out. The annual pruning will make the stem nodes distributed in a fan shape, and the plant type will be fuller and fuller< span>
