Sowing and propagation

Sowing and propagation is the main propagation method of melon leaf chrysanthemum. It takes about half a year from sowing to flowering. Sowing wooden boxes or shallow pots can be used for sowing. Mix the seeds with a small amount of fine sand and spread them evenly into the wooden box. It is better to cover it with a layer of fine soil without seeds. The soil can be moistened by spraying or soaking in the basin, while avoiding the exposure of seeds. In order to keep wet, it is recommended to cover the basin with a layer of glass, but pay attention to ventilation at the same time, and leave a gap on one side

It is best to place the melon leaf chrysanthemum planter under the shade or shade of the cold room out of sunlight, pay attention to ventilation and maintain the temperature at 21 ℃. About a week or so, the melon leaf chrysanthemum sprouts and emerges. At this time, the above shelter is gradually removed to make the seedlings get the sunlight. However, when the sun is strong at noon, you should still pay attention to shading. After germination and emergence, you can fully shine in full light two weeks later

Cutting or branching propagation

In order to prevent the quality degradation or natural hybridization of double petal varieties (flowers with multiple petals), cutting or branching method can be used for propagation. Most double petal varieties can be used for cutting. During the period from January to June, cut the root sprouts or lateral buds produced after flowering of melon leaf chrysanthemum and insert them into sand for cutting propagation or ramet propagation. It can take about 20 to 30 days to take root and bloom after 5 to 6 months
