Sand reservoir treatment

The sand storage treatment of Cycas seeds is generally carried out around December. During the sand storage period, the appropriate temperature and humidity should be maintained. The appropriate temperature for growth is about 18-25 ℃. The humidity should preferably keep the seeds at 80-90%, and do a good job of heat preservation at the same time. The seeds will sprout in May and June of the next year, and a true leaf will generally grow in July and August

Preparation before sowing

After harvesting plump and healthy Cycas seeds in October, soak them in warm water at about 50 ℃ for one day. Then soak it in dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid and other solutions for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it with clean water. When soaking seeds, change the water every other day until the seed coat completely absorbs water, expands and softens. After that, the outer seed coat can be easily stripped off, the pulp can be removed, and the seeds can be stored after drying

Sowing method

The treated seeds can be sown. Cycas seeds are suitable to be sown in pot. The soil covering depth is about 2 cm. After sowing, they can germinate in about two weeks under the temperature of 30-33 ℃. Cycas seedlings need to be cultivated for 2-4 years before transplanting

Management after sowing

Watering

Do not pour the basin soil until it is dry, and then pour it thoroughly. Do not accumulate water in the basin, otherwise it will lead to root rot. After germination of new leaves, some watering amount can be appropriately increased. During the growth of new leaves, keep the basin soil moist and spray water 2 or 3 times in the morning and evening, which is conducive to keeping the leaf dark green and shiny. Water needs to be watered sooner or later in summer, and the humidity of the surrounding air can also be increased by spray. Control watering after autumn, generally once every 2-3 days

Fertilization

During the growth period, apply more topdressing, mainly nitrogen and potassium fertilizer, and add an appropriate amount of ferrous sulfate solution to the fertilizer, which is conducive to promoting the dark green and luster of Cycas leaves
