Pruning method

Crape myrtle is generally pruned in three stages: spring, winter and summer and autumn

Spring

Spring can be divided into pre bud and post bud methods. Pre bud pruning should be carried out before crape myrtle grows new branches, so as not to disturb its growth function. Crape myrtle grows rapidly and germinates faster. In spring, the branches will grow and sprout, which destroys the appearance of the plant and will grow disorderly. At this time, the method of post bud pruning can be used for pruning

Winter

In winter, crape myrtle will enter dormancy. At this time, pruning will be carried out after the dormancy period, which can ensure the shape of crape myrtle. In the process of pruning crape myrtle, the branches should be pruned with a sense of hierarchy, so as to avoid crossing each other after seedling growth, which will also look more hierarchical, and ensure a small number of buds and seedlings on the trunk

Summer and Autumn

Pruning in summer and autumn is to make the flowering period of crape myrtle longer. Prune the recently grown branches so that only a small amount of buds and seedlings are left on the branches, which can promote crape myrtle to grow new branches again and ensure its beauty. This method of pruning is called bud pruning

Precautions

If a bud grows at the root of crape myrtle, it can be removed to ensure the beauty of the plant. It needs to be placed in a place with good ventilation and sunshine for maintenance
