Seed collection
The mature period of Rhododendron seeds varies with different varieties, generally between October and January p>
When the color of its fruit seed coat changes from cyan to yellowish brown, it proves that the seed has fully matured p>
After the seeds are mature, some of the fruits will naturally crack and the seeds will be scattered. At this time, the seeds should be collected in time p>
Another part of the fruit will not crack. At this time, it should wait until it turns brown naturally, and then it can be picked, placed in a place with a breeze, and then collected seeds. Don't be impatient and open the fruit and seed by yourself p>
The collected seeds should be stored in a dry and low-temperature environment and planted from March to April of the next year p>
Selection of soil
Rhododendron likes fertilizer, but it can't choose the planting soil with too much fertility when planting, because its root system is relatively weak and can't bear strong fertilizer. The planting soil with too high fertility will cause its root system to rot. Generally, planting soil with moderate fertility and humus will have a better effect p>
In order to facilitate the normal germination of its seeds, we need to have sufficient oxygen supply, which requires us to choose the planting soil with strong synchronization p>
In addition, it is more suitable for the growth of planting soil with pH value between 4.5 ~ 6.0. You can adjust the pH of the soil before planting p>
Potting method
First, select a flower pot with appropriate size and fill it with the prepared planting soil to 6cm away from the pot mouth p>
Then spread the Rhododendron seeds evenly on the soil surface to ensure that the seed spacing is moderate p>
Then cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, 1cm thick. Do not cover it too thick, otherwise it will only improve the difficulty and time of seed excavation p>
Finally, the planting soil needs to be watered with water to provide a humid budding environment for seeds p>
Ground planting method
To plant Rhododendron on the ground, we must first choose a suitable planting site p>
You can't plant in a dark place. You should ensure that it can shine enough sunlight p>
Before planting, you need to dig the soil deeply to mix enough air into the soil p>
Then dig out small holes on the soil surface, put the seeds in them, bury them with planting soil, and then level the soil surface p>
In addition, pay attention to watering in time to ensure that the planting soil is wet, and the seedlings can break the soil in about 20 days p>
