How to Plant Arborvitae in a Pot

Arborvitae is a type of evergreen tree that is commonly used as a privacy hedge or a decorative shrub in landscaping. However, some people may not have the space or suitable soil to plant arborvitae in their yard. In this case, planting arborvitae in a pot can be a great alternative. 1. Choose the Right Pot

The first step is to choose a pot that is suitable for the size of your arborvitae. The pot should be at least 24 inches deep and wide, but larger pots are better to give the roots more room to grow. Make sure the pot has drainage holes at the bottom to prevent water from accumulating and suffocating the roots.

2. Prepare the Soil

Arborvitae thrives in well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. Purchase potting soil that is formulated for evergreen trees, or make your own by mixing equal parts of soil, perlite, and peat moss.
