How to Plant a Ball and Burlapped Tree

The process of planting a ball and burlapped tree is slightly different from planting a bare-root tree. Here are the steps to follow:

Choose the right location

Prune the tree

If there are any damaged or broken branches, prune them off to promote healthy growth. This can also be a good time to shape the tree to your desired form. Be sure to use clean, sharp tools to minimize damage to the tree.

Care for the tree

After planting the tree, it is important to water it regularly, especially during periods of drought. In the first year, the tree may need to be watered weekly, depending on weather conditions. Fertilizer should be applied sparingly and only after the tree has established a strong root system. Also, keep an eye out for any signs of pest or disease and take immediate action if needed.
