正常情况下种植之后大约3-4年的时间就可以开花结果了，养殖7年以上的植株结果量可以达到上千粒，这种植株是先开花后结果的，果实未成熟时是绿色，成熟之后是红色的。在原产地可以全年不间断的开花结果，而且从开花到结果一般只需要3-4个星期，在我国华南，种植的神秘果每年至少也有两次花期，一次是在2-3月分开花，4-5月份结出果实；第二次是在4-5月分开花，6-7月份结出果实。至于每棵植株能产出多少神秘果要根据植株的大小来决定，一般正常五年生的植株一棵采完能有十几斤果实。
