How to Plant Tomato Seeds in Pots

Tomatoes are a staple in many home gardens, but not everyone has the space for a traditional garden bed. Luckily, you can still grow delicious tomatoes in pots, right on your patio or balcony! Choose the Right Pot

The first step to growing tomatoes in pots is choosing the right pot. Look for a container that is at least 12 inches in diameter and 12 inches deep. This will give the tomato plant enough room to grow roots and support a healthy plant. Additionally, make sure the pot has drainage holes so that water can escape and not drown the plant.

Select Your Soil

Next, choose a high-quality potting soil that is specifically formulated for containers. Regular garden soil isn’t ideal for potted plants since it can become compacted and cause drainage issues. Fill the pot with soil up to about an inch from the top.

Plant the Seeds

With your pot and soil ready, it’s time to plant the tomato seeds. Make small holes in the soil about a quarter inch deep and roughly an inch apart.
