How to Plant a Fig Tree in a Container

If you live in an area that gets cold winters, or if you do not have space for a full-sized fig tree in your garden, planting a fig tree in a container is a great option. Fig trees are relatively easy to care for and can produce an abundance of fruit in the right conditions. Here's how to plant a fig tree in a container:

Choose the Right Container

The first step in planting a fig tree in a container is to choose the proper container. Fig trees need room to grow, so choose a container that is at least 24 inches wide and 18 inches deep. You can choose a plastic or terra cotta container, but make sure it has drainage holes in the bottom.
