How to Plant Citrus in Pots

Citrus is a fruit that is known for its unique flavor and aroma. Its versatility makes it a favorite addition to many dishes and drinks. 1. Choose the Right Pot

2. Choose the Right Soil

3. Plant the Citrus Tree

A general rule of thumb is to water citrus trees when the top inch of the soil is dry to the touch. Fertilize the tree monthly with a citrus-specific fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

6. Prune and Maintain

Pruning is important for maintaining the health and shape of the citrus tree. Prune away dead, diseased, or crossing branches, and remove any suckers growing from the base of the tree. You can also prune to shape the tree and promote airflow. Regular maintenance such as monitoring for pests and diseases and replacing the soil every two to three years will ensure the tree’s longevity.
