2、 Grafting method

1. Cutting method: select annual new branches from flowering trees, cut them into scions two or three centimeters long and with a pair of new buds, remove the upper appearance and cut the lower end into a wedge. Then we need to deal with the rootstock, cut off the privet four or five centimeters above the ground, cut it from the cambium and wooden part, and then insert the scion and wrap it tightly with plastic bags, which can heal in about one month

2. Mosaic method: the mosaic method should be carried out in autumn. The selection and treatment method of scion is the same as the cutting method. Cut the side without bud into a flat and straight surface. Then cut it obliquely on one side of the rootstock and insert the cut scion into it. After completion, it should also be wrapped in plastic bags. In the later stage, attention should be paid to thermal insulation treatment to avoid frostbite

3、 Precautions for grafting

Grafted osmanthus trees usually use privet as rootstock, which can be grafted with silver osmanthus, golden osmanthus and other varieties. However, it should be noted that the trees are easy to break from the grafted place when they grow up, so they should be changed. It means to let the grafted part grow roots again after survival in the later stage, and replace the rootstock at the bottom
